Dear PSBC Members,

On behalf of the PSBC Board of Directors, I would like to greet everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year! I would also like to take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to the Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines led by H.E. Amb. Andrea Reichlin. The support is very much appreciated.Likewise, a heartfelt thanks to all PSBC members who have and stayed with us through the years.

2016 in a snap shot, your council in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines organized several breakfast discussion events on: Customs Modernization Tariff-Act, Helping Philippine Start-ups become Globally Competitive and Business Opportunities in the PH-EFTA regions. The much anticipated breakfast talk on What Federalism means for Business had to be cancelled as the speaker needed to return to base. A General Membership Meeting presenting the PSBC Roadmap also took place last May. It is worthy to mention again the successful Joint Economic Council (JEC) meeting last 28 April in Berne, Switzerland and on the same occasion, the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Philippines and EFTA states.Your council has contributed to this effort through the submission of several position papers and attendance at several consultative meetings with the DTI.

2017 will be a distinct year for PSBC. For the first time, we will conduct a PSBC Breakfast Business Meetings to present immediate accomplishments, business matching opportunities for members and to hear your views for the council. Tentatively, in March 13, 2017, PSBC will undertake a Philippine Swiss Business Conference for the Swiss business delegation organized by PricewaterhouseCoopers of Zurich. This business conference will focus on Agriculture Post Harvest and Knowledge Process Outsourcing. This will be an opportune time to listen and maybe consider adding to your present business portfolio. Added to this, your council is pursuing its own independent business matching activities on agriculture, furniture and waste to energy with counterparts in Switzerland. We will also continue the informative Breakfast Discussion with the Embassy of Switzerland.

Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome to the Philippine-Swiss Business Council Ms. Cheryl Maley, President & Managing Director, Novartis Philippines, Inc. and Ms. Sapna Sood, Chief Operating Officer, Holcim Philippines, Inc.. Again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow Board of Directors, members, Swiss Embassy in the Philippines and everyone involved who have contributed and helped the PSBC.
