On behalf of the PSBC Board of Directors, I would like to greet everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our former Chairperson, Rosario Cajucom-Bradbury who has relentlessly worked for the success of our council until May this year.
Your Board of Directors will end the year with the blueprint of the PSBC Roadmap for 2016 and onwards. We would be presenting the plan in the General Membership meeting to be scheduled early 2016. In generalities, the End Goal of your Board is to achieve Status & Credibility as a council for the benefit of all our valuable members and stakeholders. This win, when backed by dead on programs, will lead to opportunities for Trade & Investment. It is not without mentioning that to achieve Excellence, we should be mindful of our CSR commitments and it is precisely why ALPS was born. We would like to thank Mr. Reiner Gloor for all his selfless efforts and guidance as our Alps President. Rehabilitation projects are in place and can be viewed at www.alps.com.ph
In broad strokes, your council wants to be proactive in seeking partnerships and alliances with other councils, foreign chambers, the government and private sector. It is through this partnership that we will create opportunities for business within the PSBC and with other councils and foreign chambers. This will evoke that we will bring forward specific programs for Swiss Investors to match with counterparts in PSBC. A big challenge but with everyone’s support it is surmountable!
In 2015, your Board has re-organized into working committees to address the programs for next year. We also held two business forums on Waste to Energy and Opportunities in Clinical Trials. The Board has also been engaging with the Philippine EFTA Team of the DTI for inputs and opportunities. Just recently, the 4th round of negotiations was concluded last November 27 in Geneva and both sides are looking forward with great optimism to have a PH-EFTA deal in the near horizon.
Your Board of Directors likewise looks forward with much excitement collaborating with H.E. Ambassador Andrea Reichlin who brings with her a wealth of experience and believe me so much enthusiasm! Her Excellency has joined us at our board meetings and provided guidance on how best to look at trade opportunities. She was never remiss to remind us to stick to doable plans and above all enjoy what we are doing. With great fondness, we look forward to a good partnership with the Swiss Embassy in the Philippines.
Merry Christmas to All!
Luis E. Mendez Chairman – PSBC
